Griffin AS, Cabot P, Wallwork B, Panizza B · Ear, Nose & Throat Journal · 2020 October 06
DOI 10.1177/0145561320939415
Objective
To discuss a number of alternative therapies for chronic rhinosinus-itis (CRS), their proposed physiologic mechanisms, and evidence supporting their use.
Conclusions
We found that while many of the alternative therapies we reviewed might have a firm basis in science, they lack any clinical ev-idence to support their use specifically for chronic rhinosinus-itis (CRS).
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
