Conclusions
Combining auricular acupuncture Lung, Shenmen, Endocrine, Adrenal points, and modern medication treatment may relieve effectively symptoms and improve the quality of life (qoL) in adult eczema (AE).
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.

Insights
Combining auricular acupuncture with modern medication treatment may alleviate symptoms and improve life quality in adult eczema.
The study was a single-blind randomized assessment involving 65 adult eczema patients at the University Medical Center Ho Chi Minh City Branch 3. Patients were divided into two groups, with one receiving auricular acupuncture at Lung, Shenmen, Endocrine, and Adrenal points (AA group), and the other receiving a sham treatment (SA group). Researchers compared the Scoring Atopic Dermatitis (SCORAD) and the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) in both groups before and after treatments.
In terms of results, the AA supplied to one group and the sham treatment administered to the other produced varied outcomes. After two weeks, the AA group showed a more significant reduction in SCORAD score and DLQI score when compared to the SA group. None of the subjects experienced any adverse events in the course of the study. The major distinction in the reduction of the SCORAD score and the DLQI score between both groups was statistically significant, indicating the potential effectiveness of the combination treatment approach.
