Dang Gui is highly effective in treating ischemic stroke due to its numerous therapeutic properties.
This research utilises a systematic review and meta-analysis approach based on the PRISMA guidelines to assess the effectiveness and underlying mechanisms of A. sinensis for the treatment of ischemic stroke. It involves examining previous studies on Angelica injection and A. sinensis active constituents, with a particular focus on extracts and active compounds such as Z-ligustilide, 3-n-Butylphthalide, and ferulic acid.
The study found that A. sinensis contributes to stroke recovery due to its anti-inflammatory, oxidative stress reduction, angiogenesis, and neurogenesis effects. The compounds within A. sinensis also inhibit platelet aggregation, counter atherosclerosis, and protect blood vessels, improving overall neurological function following an ischemic stroke. The investigation underscores the significant potential of A. sinensis extracts for stroke treatment, suggesting the possible application of diverse research techniques, such as pharmacological networks, computer-aided drug design, artificial intelligence, big data, and multi-scale modelling to deepen understanding of its full therapeutic potential.
