Objective
To investigate the effectiveness and safety of home-based transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) combined with lifestyle modification in the treatment of high-normal BP and explored the feasibility of a trial design.
Conclusions
The authors found a reduction in systolic blood pressure (SBP) control in the pragmatic, home-based intervention by using transcutaneous electrical acupoint stimulation (TEAS) combined with lifestyle modification in adults with high-normal BP.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
