Objective
This study aims to identify the active ingredients in WYJDHY and understand their mechanisms of action in treating ACLF. The effects of AT-1 on LPS-stimulated rat hepatocytes were investigated, and the involvement of NF-κB signaling was evaluated.
Conclusions
23 active ingredients of six herbs in the WYJDHY formula were retrieved, and 105 co-targets of drugs and disease were identified to be differentially expressed between ACLF and normal tissues. AT-1 protects against LPS-induced toxicity on hepatocytes, and the NF-κB pathway might be involved.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
