Objective
To review the effects of human diet on health over the past 75 years
Conclusions
Diet patterns in humans has identified foods/food groups that are associated with decreased morbidity and mortality and increased quality of life. These diet patterns include higher intakes of fruits and vegetables, fish, whole grains, and legumes—key components of both the Mediterranean and DASH diets as well as diets consumed in the “Blue Zones.”
