Conclusions
EGCG has been proven to possess a chemopreventive effect by inhibiting the carcinogenesis process (initiation, promotion, and progression) and managing cancer through modulating various cell signaling pathways, including regulation of proliferation, apoptosis, angiogenesis, and killing of cancer cells; its additive or synergistic effects with other chemopreventive agents enhance anti-cancerous effects and reduce toxicities; despite its effectiveness and safety, the poor bioavailability of EGCG is discussed, and nanotechnology-based strategies such as encapsulation, liposome, micelles, and nanoparticles are explored to overcome this limitation.
