Objective
To investigate the in vitro antimicrobial activities of 58 ethno-medicinal plant extracts and assess their therapeutic potential.
Conclusions
The study found that out of the 58 plant extracts tested, 30 showed significant antimicrobial activities against fungi and bacteria, with some exhibiting broad-spectrum activity. The results suggest a correlation between antimicrobial activity and flavonoid content, indicating the potential for discovering novel antimicrobial compounds from these plants.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
