Liu Z, Chen C, Li X, Zhao C, Li Z, Liang W, Lin Y · Complementary Therapies in Medicine · 2018 February
DOI 10.1016/j.ctim.2017.11.002
Objective
To investigate the molecular components of blister fluid induced by cupping therapy and compare them with those from scald burns to understand the necessity of inducing cupping-induced blisters.
Conclusions
Cupping-induced blisters contain proteins related to immune responses, oxidative stress, and metabolic regulation, suggesting their role in activating certain immune pathways and providing therapeutic benefits.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
