Acupuncture significantly reduces fatigue and improves quality of life in multiple sclerosis patients, positioning it as a potential additional therapy.
The method involved conducting a comprehensive literature search across multiple databases to assess the effectiveness of acupuncture in alleviating fatigue in multiple sclerosis patients. The research incorporated six studies: two observational studies and four randomized control trials. The key outcomes evaluated included fatigue, quality of life, and disability.
Despite variations in the acupuncture protocols, outcome metrics, and control conditions among the studies, the results overall suggested that acupuncture significantly reduces fatigue and enhances the quality of life. This finding underscores acupuncture's potential as a complementary therapeutic intervention in the management of multiple sclerosis. Nonetheless, due to the prevalent risk of bias in the included studies, these results should be considered with caution.
