The administration of Zishen Yutai Pill in women undergoing frozen embryo transfer may help increase live birth rates, particularly in women with a miscarriage history or of advanced age.
The study was undertaken by multiple reproductive medical centres across China. It was double-blind, placebo-controlled, and randomized, and participants were randomly assigned to either receive the Zishen Yutai Pill or a placebo. They were given the intervention around the time of their frozen embryo transfer. The primary outcome was the rate of live birth.
The observed results indicated that while there was a trend of increased live birth rate in the group that received Zishan Yutai Pill, it did not reach significant statistical difference, when compared to the placebo group. It was noted, however, that women with a history of miscarriage or who were of advanced age witnessed higher rates of live birth when subjected to the Zishen Yutai Pill intervention. This suggests potential benefits of the intervention within these specific subgroups even though overall significance across all the study participants was not established.
