The use of Snap Needles significantly enhances outcomes in the management of postoperative hemorrhoidal pain, potentially offering an alternative to western drug therapy.
A comprehensive search of multiple databases, ranging from EMBASE and PubMed to various Chinese databases, was performed to find relevant randomized controlled trials studying the efficiency of Snap Needles for postoperative hemorrhoidal pain. Outcomes were evaluated based on factors like the Visual Analog Scale, Wound Healing Time, Pain Relief Time, Pain Disappearance Time, the Total Effective Rate, and any Adverse Events. The overall quality of the individual studies was assessed using the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool while a meta-analysis was utilized via RevMan software.
The meta-analysis incorporated 11 randomized controlled trials including 1188 patients with postoperative hemorrhoidal pain. The study quality within these trials ranged from very low to moderate. Results showed that the group treated with Snap Needles had significantly better outcomes compared to a control group. The enhanced outcomes involved lower pain scores, shorter healing times, faster pain relief times, fewer adverse events, an improved total effective rate, and quicker pain disappearance time.
