Prangos ferulacea vaginal cream shows comparable effectiveness with clotrimazole in alleviating symptoms and diminishing the microbial load of vulvovaginal candidiasis.
The study followed a triple-blind randomized clinic trial approach with 111 participants. These participants were split into intervention and control groups, with the control group receiving Clotrimazole vaginal cream and the intervention group receiving Prangos ferulacea vaginal cream. Both creams were administered intravaginally at a dosage of 5g per night for a single week. Clinical symptoms such as itching, burning, and discharge were evaluated using a visual analog scale before and after the intervention. Moreover, vaginal secretion cultures were conducted to assess any changes in microbiological outcomes.
The outcome comparison between both groups showed that each had a significant reduction in clinical symptoms after the intervention. Moreover, the percentage of women with negative cultures increased in both the clotrimazole group and the Prangos ferulacea group. Additionally, it was noticed that itching, burning, and discharge were considerably reduced in both groups, signifying effective symptom control. Consequently, Prangos ferulacea vaginal cream exhibited an efficacy comparable to clotrimazole in relieving the symptoms of vulvovaginal candidiasis and reducing the microbial burden.
