Oral consumption of ginger capsules enhances sexual function and the quality of sexual life in women of reproductive age.
The study was a randomized and double-blind clinical trial that involved 190 women of reproductive age from health care centers of Alborz Province, Iran. The participants were divided into two groups: the group that received the intervention took 250 mg oral ginger capsules four times daily for four weeks. The control group, in contrast, consumed four placebo capsules of 250 mg each daily over the same timeframe. The assessment of the women's sexual function and sexual quality of life was made both before the start of the trial and four weeks after the intervention using the Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) and the sexual quality of life-female (SQOL-F) questionnaire.
The results showed a marked improvement in sexual function and sexual quality of life four weeks after administering the ginger capsules in the intervention group. Conversely, the control group that was given placebo capsules did not show a similar enhancement. Therefore, the results clearly indicate that consumption of ginger capsules significantly improved the sexual quality of life and function among the women in the intervention group.
