Insights
Guizhi Fuling Wan significantly improved both the rate of effectiveness and safety measures in treating both chronic prostatitis and benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The methodology undertaken involved identifying randomized controlled trials from English, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean databases; the data were in search date ranging from the database inception to July 2024. Rev-Man 5.4.1 software was utilized in analyzing the data from twenty-three studies which were subsequently included in a meta-analysis; twelve studies focused on chronic prostatitis while eleven studies were about benign prostatic hyperplasia.
The results from the meta-analysis revealed that Guizhi Fuling Wan had notably superior ratings of effectiveness when compared to control groups in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia and chronic prostatitis. Additionally, this compound significantly decreased International Prostate Symptom scores and National Institutes of Health Chronic Prostatitis Symptom Index scores. The effects also included a reduction in post-void residual urine, reduction in prostate volume, and an increase in maximum urinary flow rate. Therapeutic effects on prostate cancer were reported by a few studies and no serious side effects were identified.
