Objective
To investigate the effects of electroacupuncture on upper limb motor recovery and its potential modulation of corticoreticulospinal tract-related pathways in patients with subacute stroke.
Conclusions
Electroacupuncture at Hegu and Quchi may enhance upper limb motor recovery in subacute stroke, likely through modulation of corticoreticulospinal tract-related pathways and reorganization of the contralesional sensorimotor network.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
