Objective
To investigate changes in electroencephalography signals during electroacupuncture intervention in stroke patients with flaccid paralysis.
Conclusions
This pilot electrophysiological study provided a possible mechanism underlying the therapeutic effects of electroacupuncture in stroke rehabilitation, characterized by changes in beta- and delta-band power during and after stimulation.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
