DOI 10.1155/2019/6879076
Objective
To investigate the positional relationship between the acupuncture points Erjian (LI2), Sanjian (LI3), Hegu (LI4), and Yangxi (LI5) and vascular branches from the superficial branch of the radial nerve reaching the radial artery or first dorsal metacarpal artery.
Conclusions
The study provides anatomical evidence that Hegu (LI4) is significantly closer to the vascular branches reaching the radial artery than the other examined acupuncture points, supporting its use in treating peripheral circulatory failure such as Raynaud's disease.
Critical Appraisal
Published research can offer valuable insights, but a paper’s conclusions may go beyond what its results support. Critical appraisal examines the methods, findings and limitations to clarify what can reasonably be concluded—and what remains uncertain.
