A token-guided modeling framework can simulate acupuncture and moxibustion treatment dynamics, compare treatment protocols, and identify promising strategies for Meniere’s disease.
The study developed a hierarchical computational model based on colored Petri nets, adding token-guided transition control to represent concurrent and changing processes during acupuncture and moxibustion treatment. It also introduced a multicriteria evaluation approach to assess therapeutic protocols systematically, then applied simulations using clinical cases of Meniere’s disease and randomized treatment scenarios.
Simulated outcomes closely matched clinical observations, supporting the model’s ability to represent treatment processes and evaluate likely effectiveness. The framework identified three potentially useful treatment strategies and provided a structured means to visualize treatment mechanisms, compare protocols, support evidence-based decisions, and promote more standardized clinical practice.
