Chaihu Shugan Powder, a traditional Chinese medicine, has been identified to potentially alleviate premenstrual syndrome through 17 specific signaling pathways.
The methodology used in this study involved a comprehensive review and analysis of active ingredients, pharmacological mechanisms, and clinical applications of Chaihu Shugan Powder (CSP) for the treatment of premenstrual syndrome (PMS). This was done through extensive literature searches and analysis of the herbal components within the CSP formulation. A network pharmacology approach was then utilized to discern the main signaling pathways of CSP for treating PMS.
In discussing the results, this study has systematically summarized the active ingredients and pharmacological mechanisms of the seven traditional Chinese medicine components present in CSP. Through network pharmacology analysis, 75 common targets of CSP relevant to treating PMS were identified. These targets were predominantly found within 17 specific signaling pathways, illustrating how CSP may influence PMS on a molecular level. These findings underscore the potential therapeutic impacts of CSP on PMS and its possible wider clinical application.
