Acupuncture was associated with rapid resolution of pain, redness, and swelling in a patient with lower-limb erysipelas.
A single patient with lower-leg erysipelas, ankle pain, skin redness, swelling, increased local temperature, and tenderness received a symptom-guided local acupuncture treatment plan. The patient also had a history of fungal infection between the toes, without reported injury or insect bite.
Following acupuncture sessions, ankle pain resolved, swelling decreased, skin redness disappeared, and body temperature returned to normal. The report suggests acupuncture may alleviate the local inflammatory symptoms of lower-limb erysipelas in this patient.
