Acupuncture rapidly relieved diverse nerve-related symptoms after wisdom-tooth extraction in a patient with persistent facial and oral neuropathy.
A woman with neuropathy following wisdom-tooth extraction underwent clinical neurological examination and electromyography to characterize impaired facial nerve function. She then received three consecutive acupuncture sessions combining body points, ear points, and the Tan Balance Method.
Following treatment, the patient experienced reduced tingling, speech difficulty, dry mouth, altered taste, gum and jaw pain, chewing problems, and headache. The case suggests acupuncture may offer broad symptom relief for complex nerve injury after dental extraction.
