A single intramuscular dose of ShinEumHur pharmacopuncture caused no detectable toxic effects in rats across the tested dose range.
Researchers prepared ShinEumHur pharmacopuncture under sterile manufacturing conditions and adjusted its acidity to a near-neutral range. Sprague-Dawley rats received a single intramuscular injection of either ShinEumHur pharmacopuncture at several dose levels or saline control solution. The investigators monitored survival, clinical signs, body weight, blood measures, blood chemistry, organ appearance after death, and microscopic tissue changes.
No deaths, abnormal clinical signs, or treatment-related changes in body weight, blood measures, blood chemistry, organ findings, or tissue microscopy were observed. These results indicate that a single intramuscular administration of ShinEumHur pharmacopuncture was well tolerated in the tested rats.
