Laparoscopic surgery integrated with traditional Chinese medicine can potentially reduce oxidative stress in patients with endometriosis-induced infertility.
In this research, a systematic quantitative review was carried out to understand the combined effects of laparoscopic surgery and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) on oxidative stress in infertility linked to endometriosis. Nine broad databases were thoroughly evaluated, and meta-analysis was executed using Review Manager version 5.4 and Stata Release 16.0. This review had prior registration with the International Prospective Register of Systematic Reviews.
The study included thirteen trials with 1084 participants. It was observed that combining laparoscopic surgery with TCM, geared towards improving blood circulation and eliminating blood stasis, essentially diminished the levels of 8-isoprostane prostaglandin F2α, regulated on activation, normal T cell expressed and, secreted, reactive oxygen species, and monocyte chemoattractant protein-1, while improving the levels of glutathione peroxidase, vitamin E, and superoxide dismutase. The results suggest that the combination of laparoscopic surgery with TCM for the mentioned purposes demonstrates an enhanced capability to improve oxidative stress conditions in patients dealing with infertility as a result of endometriosis.
