Xialiqi capsules, a traditional Chinese medicine, show significant improvement in lower urinary tract symptoms associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia in men within eight weeks.
The methodology involved conducting a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial wherein Xialiqi's impact was assessed on a cohort of 395 patients over the period of 8 weeks. Measurements were made based on changes in symptoms related to benign prostatic hyperplasia, such as irritative and obstructive symptoms. Secondary efficacy indicators like quality of life and erectile function were also evaluated. The trial considered and recorded any adverse events that reflected the safety and tolerability of the Xialiqi capsules.
The results of the trial indicated that the Xialiqi treatment led to a noticeable decrease in the prostate symptom score when compared to the placebo group, demonstrating its effectiveness in alleviating symptoms in an eight-week period. Secondary efficacy measures showed greater improvement with Xialiqi than with placebo, suggesting its contribution to improving quality of life. Further, safety results indicated that the capsules were well tolerated, and any adverse events were found to be mild, which affirms the usability and safety of Xialiqi capsules in alleviating benign prostatic hyperplasia-related symptoms.
