Combining conventional triple therapy with the Chinese herb formula Xiangsha Liujunzi significantly improves the treatment of Helicobacter pylori-positive peptic ulcer disease.
The methodology for this research included a review of fifty-one randomized controlled trials, involving 5172 patients and ten therapeutic strategies, found across eight medical-literature databases. Software such as Review Manager, R Project and STATA16.0 were utilized to conduct a Bayesian network Meta-analysis, with the primary outcome indicator being the eradication rate of H. pylori. Secondary indicators were the clinical effectiveness rate, recurrence rate and adverse reaction reports.
Discussion of the results reveals that the supplementing conventional triple therapy with Chinese herbal formulae increased the eradication rate and clinical efficiency, and reduced the recurrence rate of H. pylori more effectively than standalone conventional triple therapy treatments. The combination therapy, specifically with Xiangsha Liujunzi, emerged as the most effective amongst the ten treatments examined, underlining the potential merit of integrating Chinese herbal formulae with conventional treatments when combating H. pylori-positive peptic ulcer disease. No significant safety issues emerged from the combination therapy.
