Acupuncture for Breathlessness in Advanced Diseases: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis
2019 Sep 18 Journal of Pain and Symptom Management von Trott, P., Oei, S. L., & Ramsenthaler, C.
The results of the review suggest that acupuncture can improve breathlessness severity in patients with advanced diseases. The methodological heterogeneity, low power, and potential morphine-sparing effects of acupuncture as an add-on should be further addressed in future trials.
Systematic Review Meta-Analysis Dyspnea Respiratory Conditions Effects of acupuncture on the anxiety-like behavior induced by withdrawal from chronic morphine use
2018 Jan Neuroscience Letters Kim DH, Kim NJ, Zhao RJ, Kim DH, Yang CH, Kim HY, et al.
Acupuncture at HT7 increased the time spent in open arms significantly. Also, these effects of acupuncture at HT7 were blocked by GABAA receptor antagonist. Results of the present study suggest that acupuncture at HT7 can attenuate anxiety-like behavior induced by withdrawal from chronic morphine treatment through the mediation of GABAA receptor system.

2014 Jul Neuroscience Letters Lee BH, Ku JY, Zhao RJ, Kim HY, Yang CH, Gwak YS, et al.
Acupuncture at HT7, but not at control acupoint, LI5, suppressed spontaneous morphine-taking behavior significantly. In addition, the effect of acupuncture was blocked by both GABA receptor antagonists. The results of this study suggest that acupuncture at HT7 suppresses morphine-taking behavior through the mediation of GABA receptor system.
