In summary, we have shown that Gardenia jasminoides Ellis (GJE) and its bioactive compounds [rutin, chlorogenic acid (CGA) and geniposidic acid (GA)] exerted estrogen stimulating effects in vitro and up-regulated the FSHR-aromatase pathway without increasing the risk of hormone-dependent breast cancer.
